Today is my BIG post about International Women’s day, and I am attributing my thoughts on this to my daughter, @hannahipower and all other amazing young women out there that support their mothers.
I remember the day I became a mum, the moment Hannah came into my life and changed my filter on the world for ever. Suddenly, I had a person who I knew was going to be more powerful with her impact than I could ever be.
27 years later, Hannah is my mentor, my coach, my wind and the person that empowers me to stay tall in this mad world of digital technology, personal branding and the pace of overwhelm that us 56 year olds find quite breathless sometimes.
This generation, and I include young men now in this statement, are so incredibly inspiring, they see the world in a different way to most of us Baby Boomers. They see a balanced life, one that is inclusive and one that isn’t just about financial wealth. They seek health, joy, friendship, belonging and they seek to have impact. To leave the world a better place than the world they were born into.
So today, I thank my daughter, my son’s @rosspower and @tjpower and all other young people who despite the old fashioned leaders and the shifts they have witnessed in the world, they stay so steadfast in their belief that they can make a difference, and through this, I know they will, and I for one, thank all those sons and daughters that take time to mentor those of us not born into this digital crazy world, and I honour all those in my generation who are humble enough to admit that they don’t have all the answers.
Happy #IDW2020 to all those those with open, loving and progressive mind, what ever gender you are.
